In her first semester at Wilson Christian Academy, Jocelyn Bailey continued to make big plays for the Lady Chargers varsity volleyball team last week, making her this week’s Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Jocelyn, a sophomore outside hitter/setter, had 10 kills and six digs Monday, Oct. 19, as Wilson Christian swept Liberty Christian, the only North Carolina Christian School Association team to defeat the Lady Chargers this season. She had six kills as WCA tipped off the NCCSA 2-A playoffs with a sweep of Berean Baptist on Thursday, Oct. 22, and finished her week with seven kills while attracting the defense of Vandalia Christian in the Lady Chargers’ four-set win Saturday.
The daughter of Kelly and Kevin Bailey of Wilson, Jocelyn is an honor-roll student after transferring as a home school student this year. She previously attended Wilson Christian in elementary school. She plans to play basketball for the Lady Chargers this season.
Jocelyn is active at Raleigh Road Baptist Church and previously was involved in the Word and Deed youth group at Wilson Presbyterian Church, going on mission trips to help hurricane-battered areas in North Carolina. She also plays guitar and led the music fellowship at Word and Deed meetings.
Jocelyn previously played volleyball for East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club in Greenville. She has worked part-time at 243-SIGN.
