ROCKY MOUNT — The North Johnston varsity tennis team took a 6-3 victory from Nash Central on the road to set it up with the chance to claim the 2-A Eastern Plains Conference crown outright Thursday, April 11.
The Panthers (9-7, 5-0 EPC) in the their March 26 matchup with the Bulldogs (7-6, 6-2 EPC) needed two doubles courts to win 5-4, but the Panthers entered doubles with the win in the bag as they took home five of the six singles courts. Scott Sellers, Graham Walston and Brandon Peedin all won in straight sets for North Johnston. Hunter Jones and Carsse Lucas needed thirdset tie breakers to take their matches. In doubles, Walston-Lucas was the only pair to win for the Panthers, 8-3.
