WENDELL — The Smithfield-Selma football team’s season came to a close with a 52-0 loss to East Wake in the team’s final 3-A Greater Neuse River Conference on Friday night.
The loss secured the Spartan’s third 1-10 season in a row, and 10th loss in a row in 2019 after the school won its home opener against Spring Creek in August.
Smithfield-Selma finished the season 0-5 in the conference, being outscored 258-12 by league opponents. Head coach Mike Parrish could not be reached by the Johnstonian News on Saturday.
